54 Meter hohen Turm. Der Entwurf stammte von
Regierungsbaumeister Hans Schütte. Mit der Ausfüh-
rung war der Köpenicker Stadtbaurat Hugo Kinzer
beauftragt.
Am 8. Dezember 1902 war die Grundsteinlegung,
am 7. Oktober 1905 wurde das Rathaus eingeweiht.
Erweiterungsbauten in der Böttcherstraße folgten
1926/27, in Richtung Schlossplatz 1938/39.

THE KÖPENICK TOWN HALL
At the end of the 19th century it became the old town
hall from 1763 was too snmall and planning for the con-
struction of a new representative service building began.
The previous building had to give way and was demol-
ished. On the site of the old town hall the new town hall
was built in the style of Brandenburg Gothic Brick, with
a five-sided ornamental gable, and a tower which is
54 metres high. The building's original design was by
the government architect Hans Schütte. The architect
Hugo Kinzer, who was later to become the head of the
Köpenick planning department, was commissioned
to undertake the building project.
The foundation stone was laid on 8th December 1902,
and the town hall was officially opened on 7th October
1905. Extensions were added in the Böttcherstraße in
1926–7, and then on the Castle Square side in 1938–9.
