GRÜNSTRASSE 4
Das 1894 erbaute Wohn- und Geschäftshaus
steht auf den Fundamenten eines Gebäudes
von 1686. Das Grundstück gelangte 1728 in
den Besitz des Apothekers und damaligen
Köpenicker Bürgermeisters Johann Friedrich
Ungnad und hatte ab 1764 verschiedene
Besitzer. 1794–1807 war es Eigentum und
Domizil von Johann Bernoulli III. (1744–1807).
Der in Basel geborene Mathematiker und
Astronom war seit 1764 Mitglied der Berliner
Akademie der Wissenschaften, seit 1767
Direktor ihrer Sternwarte, 1791 Direktor der
Akademieklasse für Mathematik.

Built in 1894, this residential and commercial
building stands on the foundations of a build-
ing dating from 1686. From 1728 onwards
the property was owned by the pharmacist
Johann Friedrich Ungnad, who was also, at that
time, the mayor of Köpenick. Since 1764, it has
had a number of different owners. Between
1794 and 1807, it was owned and inhabited by
Johann Bernoulli III. (1744–1807).
This mathematician and astronomer, who
was born in Basel, was a member of the Berlin
Academy of Sciences, and from 1767 onwards,
he was the director of its observatory. In 1791
he became the director of the Academy Class
of Mathematics.
