Dieses Eckgebäude errichtete der Baumeister
Friedrich Lahne 1888 als repräsentatives
Bürgerhaus für den Bankdirektor Albert Hirte
(1833–1889). Vorgezogene Erker, der aufge-
setzte Turm mit Laterne, die Giebel zu bei-
den Seiten sowie dekorative Schmuck-
elemente machen das Gebäude zu einem
Blickfang des Schlossplatzes.
Ab 1910 luden hier das Schlosstheater und
später ein Kino das Publikum ein. Heute
beheimatet der Saal das Schlossplatztheater.
Von 1902 bis 1910 befand sich in den Räu-
men, in denen ab 1910 das Theater seinen
Sitz hatte, die Gaststätte Ratskeller.

This corner building was constructed by the
master builder Friedrich Lahne in 1888 as
a prestigious community centre, on behalf
of the bank director, Albert Hirte (1833–1889).
The protruding bay windows, the lantern
tower above them, and the gables at both
sides, together with various other adorning
features, make the building the focal point
of the Schlossplatz.
From 1910, the building was used by the
Schlosstheater and later by a cinema company.
Today the hall is home to the Schlossplatz-
theater, a modern theatre company.
Between 1902 and 1910, the restaurant Rats-
keller was located in the rooms which would
subsequently be used for the theatre.
